Syria Participates in Moscow Exhibition for Food Industries

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  Syria recently took part in Moscow Exhibition for Food Industries (MEFI). The participation came through seven companies specialized in food industries.

The Director of Promotion in the Development and Promotion of Exports Agency Eng. Saleh Rifai told local press that this participation comes in implementation of a plan to promote exports in 2014 in the framework of promoting and introducing Syrian products intended for export and the opening of new markets and enhancing their competitiveness in global markets, especially Russia.

 

Eng. Rifai indicated that the specialized companies include food industries, caned foods, milk products, canned olives, olive oil, cereals, oil, ghee, biscuits, chocolate and applicable dates.

He added that “The seven companies participating in the exhibition are Addurra company for Food Products, al -Hamwi Global Company, Mackie Company of Chocolate and Sweets, Al Sa’our Company for Food Products, The Near East Olive and Olive Oil Company and  Mr. Sidi Hisham for Food Products,” he added.

Eng. Rifai clarified that the Agency is working in coordination with the Syrian Embassy, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moscow, the Association of Syrian and Arab Community in Moscow and Boards of Syrian-Russian Businessmen to organize direct meetings between Syrian exporting companies and Russian imported companies desire to achieve optimum benefit of participation in the exhibition.

Rifai pointed out that “The Development and Promotion of Exports Agency in collaboration with the Federation of Exporters of Syria and the Syrian Embassy in Moscow worked to organize this participation which is considered the first of its kind for Syrian food companies to be an important step towards the opening of the Russian market in front of the Syrian exports.
