Syria participates in Cairo Book Fair

Cairo, (ST) – The Head of the Syrian Publishers Union Haitham Hafez stressed the importance of the Syrian participation in the 54th session of the Cairo International Book Fair. He pointed out that Syria always participates in a distinguished way through its writers and publishers.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo on the occasion of the opening of the Fair, Hafez said that this year, the Syrian publishing houses present various publications in all scientific, intellectual, religious, social and political fields, in addition to children’s books that contribute effectively building the personality of children in various stages.

Hafez added that the Syrian Publishers Union participates in various cultural events to highlight the civilized role of Syria and its noble message, despite the unjust siege that Syria is being exposed to and the conspiracy targeting its strength and civilization.

He noted the importance of the book to spread societal awareness among different generations in the light of the attempts to mislead peoples and the media and information war targeting our societies.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, and Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, inaugurated Wednesday morning the 54th Cairo International Book Fair at the Egypt Center for International Exhibitions and Conferences under the slogan ” Together we read, we think, we create”.

1047 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers from 53 countries participated in the Fair. The exhibition will continue until February 6th.
