Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade in the caretaker government Dr. Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil discussed with the Pakistani Ambassador to Damascus Shahid Akhtar and the accompanying delegation of businessmen means of developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Al-Khalil talked about the situation of bilateral relations and the need to work on developing them more deeply. He referred to the existing friendship and cooperation relations and the continuous efforts made by the Pakistani Embassy in Damascus to develop these relations in various fields.
Minister Al-Khalil stressed the important role that the private sector can play in increasing the volume of trade exchange and developing investment cooperation, in light of the availability of available capabilities and the sincere desire of both parties.
Minister Al-Khalil answered some inquiries and proposals raised by the delegation members with the aim of informing them about the work and investment environment in Syria and the possible opportunities and mechanisms of cooperation.
For his part, Ambassador Akhtar stressed his country’s interest in developing relations with Syria, noting that the visit of the Pakistani businessmen delegation is in this direction. He also praised the level of Syrian export products, which he learned about during the visit organized for the delegation to the Syrian Export Exhibition “Expo Syria 2024”.
