DAMASCUS, (ST)_Syria and Pakistan signed on Sunday a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that provides for forming a joint working group for economic and trade affairs.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the 5-year agreement aims to find a mechanism to follow up the development of commercial and economic relations between Syria and Pakistan in the fields of investment projects and organizing exhibitions and discovering the promising opportunities for cooperation.
The agreement was signed by the Minister on Economy and Foreign Trade Samer Khalil and Pakistan’s Ambassador in Damascus Saed Mohammad Khan on behalf of the Pakistani Minister of Trade.
Khalil told reporters that the relations between Syria and Pakistan witness a remarkable development at economic and commercial fields, pointing out that the volume of trade between the two countries doubled during the first 9 months of 2021, in comparison with the same period in 2020.
For his part, the Pakistani ambassador talked about the brotherly relations between his country and Syria, affirming that the agreement, which was signed today, will open new horizons for cooperation.
