Syria, Oman Discuss Economic Cooperation

Muscat,(ST) – A delegation representing Damascus Chamber of Industry discussed yesterday here with the Director of the General Establishment of Industrial Zones in Oman Yacob bin Salman al -Mahrouqi the areas of economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them.

The Syrian delegation confirmed the presence of broad areas for industrial investment in Syria in various sectors and the need to exchange expertise and establish joint industrial investments between the businessmen of the two countries, pointing out to the  available infrastructure to establish such this type of investment in cities and industrial areas in different Syrian governorates. 

The members of the delegation pointed to the importance of the participation of Omani businessmen in reconstruction, increasing trade cooperation and opening markets to Syrian industrial products and to facilitate the flow of goods.

For his part, Mr. al -Mahrouqi displayed the investment map of industrial zones in Oman and investment incentives, pointing out the importance of cooperation between the two parties for the establishment of joint industrial investments.

The delegation also met the consul at the Syrian Embassy in Muscat Mohamed Dayob, who pointed to the role played by the embassy to take care of the interests of the Syrian community with the authorities in Oman to facilitate its affairs.

The delegation includes members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber Firas Jajah and Mohammad Akram al Hallaq,  Talal Qalaji,  Muhannad Daadouch and Essam al-Husseini.
