Syria Officially Invites OPCW to Conduct Transparent Investigation into Alleged Chemical Attack in Douma
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has officially invited the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapon (OPCW) to send a fact-finding mission to the Syrian city of Douma as to conduct investigation into the alleged use of chemical weapons there.
An official source at the ministry told SANA that in response to the unjust campaign launched by some western countries against the Syrian Arab Republic in the wake of the fabricated reports about an alleged chemical attack in Douma of Eastern Ghouta, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates sent, via its permanent mission in the Hague, an official invitation to OPCW to delegate a fact finding mission to Syria’s Douma in order to conduct investigation into the alleged chemical attack in the city on April 7, 2018.
“Syria renews its strong condemnation of using chemical weapons by any party under any circumstances and in any place. Syria is keen on cooperating with the OPCW to uncover the truth behind the allegations that some western sides have been circulating to justify their aggressive intentions and to serve their political agendas,” the source said.
The Syrian Arab Republic welcomes the visit of the fact finding team and vows to provide all necessary facilitations to the mission to help it conduct a transparent investigation based on tangible and credible evidence., the source added.
