DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack which targeted two Mosques in New Zealand, stressing that this crime indicates the urgent need to unify the world countries’ efforts as to eliminate terrorism.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA that “The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the cowardly terrorist attack which targeted two mosques in New Zealand and which killed and wounded dozens of worshippers.

“This racist terrorist crime affirms the urgent need to unify all’s efforts to eliminate terrorism, fight extremist ideas and end hatred against Islam,” the source said.

At least one gunman killed 49 people and wounded more than 20 during Friday prayers at two New Zealand mosques in the country’s worst ever mass shooting, which Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern condemned as terrorism.
