BEIRUT, (ST) – Syria Motex Fair specialized in children clothing recently concluded its activities. The event was held in the city of Beirut. Some 114 Syrian companies took part in the fair and received about 400 importers from a number of Arab and foreign countries.
Organizers of the fair estimated the value of contracts that have been signed with Syrian textile companies that participated in the fair of about 40 million dollars, whereas the big part went to Libya and Iraq. An Iraqi trade delegation agreed with Syrian texture companies participated in the fair for the supply of clothing to be presented to an area of 1000 square meters within the famous Mansour Mall in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Head of the Syrian Exporters Association Mohammed al Sawah said in a statement to reporters that the fair was able to achieve a set of goals simultaneously, the most important is that the garment industry has begun to recover through the high number of participating companies from about 60 companies in Syria Mod which was held two months ago to 114 companies in the Syria Motex along with the increasing number of Aleppo textile companies to 18 ones.
Mr. al -Sawah pointed to the state of recovery that Syrian companies reflected through high quality and their ability to compete despite the current circumstances in Syria and this created a state of confidence among importers who returned two months after the signing of contracts for the supply of clothing to their home countries.
For his part, the Syrian expatriate in France Bassam Abu Jeib affirmed that the Syrian textile industry has proved to be able to compete and access to global markets, pointing out that Syrians industrialists participating in the fair were able to deal with the circumstances in Syria with tact and intelligence through their return to their positions and their markets and their customers with confidence and strength.
He pointed out that several contracts for the supply of children clothing to France were signed due to the good reputation of the Syrian clothes among the French, who believe that Syrian item is comparable to the French item in quality and price and has a great ability to compete, especially when it compared to the Chinese commodity displayed in French markets.
He said that organizing such fairs confirms the ability of the Syrian economy to withstand and continue, pointing to the willingness of the Syrian expatriates to support the Syrian industry to return to its originality and cast as outdated by the world.
