DAMASCUS, (ST) – Spinning, knitting and weaving industry was almost a Syrian invention par excellence defined by Syria with the ancient civilizations of the kingdoms of Ebla and Mari and Palmyra and the Syrians bequeathed this invention to their grandchildren, generation after generation challenging calamities that hit their country only to return each time stronger than before and this has been confirmed once again strongly through the determination of the Syrians to protect their industries of textile, despite the dangers that gripped the country during the current crisis. The second Syrian Clothing Kids Fair of Allanjeri “Syria Mod” was held in Beirut from 1 to 3 Feb with the participation of about 100 industrial Syrian specialized companies.
Perhaps the success achieved by the second Syrian Clothing Kids Fair “Syria Mod”, which concluded recently in Beirut, is a further evidence of the ability of the Syrian textile and clothing industry to overcome the harshest conditions and making a new start that maintain for the industry its pioneering and excellence regionally and internationally.
The real threats to the status of the Syrian textile industries in the global markets in recent years to pushed to invent outlets and new fairs to remind the world that the closet of queen of France Marie Antoinette was containing 72 garments made of the Damascene luxurious brocade. Perhaps Syria Mod Fair, which was held recently in Beirut, was one of the most distinguished fairs.
The fair, which was attended by 95 Syrian companies engaged in the clothes, textile and Allanjeri and attended by about 600 customers and clients from Lebanon, Iraq and the Gulf, Egypt and Morocco, was an opportunity to send a message to the whole world that the Syrian fabric remains strongly present and can’t disappear regardless of the challenges it faces.
The success achieved by the Fair which was held in Beirut last September encouraged repeating the experiment in a relatively short period, which in turn has achieved an increase in the number of participants and pavilions set up for the first exhibition at a rate of 50 percent, organizers of SyriaMod confirmed.
In a return to the previous note size evolution between the first and second versions of the Fair, SyriaMod 1 with the participation of 62 Syrian companies hosted more than 250 merchant and businessman, and resulted in the signing of contracts for purchases of $ 50 million.
While the value of the contracts signed in SyriaMod 2 amounted to 70 million dollars. SyriaMod 2 achieved for those in charge of the Fair and its participants a set of goals they sought them through the promotion for the clothing industry and the Syrian textile.
Syria Mod achieved another success through opening foreign communication channels for Syrian industrialists and encouraging a slice of industrialists to continue their work in their factories as a result of sabotage.
