Syria, Malaysia discuss supporting health sector

Joint cooperation in the health field was discussed during a meeting yesterday between Acting Minister of Health Maher Al-Sharaaa and a delegation from the Malaysian humanitarian aid organization “Mercy”.

Al-Sharaa stated that the health situation in Syria has deteriorated significantly, and a plan should be prepared for the next stage and a new health system must be built.

Al-Sharaa praised the Malaysian efforts in Syria during the past week, looking forward to developing relations between the two countries in the health field.

In turn, the Executive Director of the organization Ahmed Faisal clarified that the health sector in Syria has been provided with 10 kidney dialysis machines, in addition to establishing an emergency center in Al-Razi Hospital in Aleppo, and these projects will be implemented soon.

Faisal pointed out that during the next stage, the focus will be on the aspect of mental health, primary health care, in addition to training and rehabilitation.
