Syria, Lebanon Discuss Ways to Help Displaced Syrians in Lebanon Return Home

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  Minister of Local Administration Hussein Makhlouf and the Lebanese Minister of State for the Displaced Affairs Saleh al-Gharib on Monday held talks on ways to ensure the return of the displaced Syrians, who were forced to leave their country because of terrorism, to their homeland.

In a statement to journalists following the meeting, Makhlouf said the Syrian state has adopted all measures necessary to guarantee the return of the displaced to their villages and towns and has ensured all requirements of normal life for them.

“Both sides have joint will to ensure the return of all the displaced Syrians staying in Lebanon to their homeland soon,” he added, pointing out that some parties that support terrorism are hindering this return because they don’t want to recognize the Syrian state’s victory.

On his part, al-Gharib said the meeting discussed the displaced Syrians file, hailing the Syrian side’s cooperation and seriousness as regards the return of the displaced to their homeland and entirely closing the file.

Al-Gharib, who noted the lack of precise statistics specifing the number of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon, said that the Syrian government considers that hindering the return of the displaced Syrians to their country is a scheme targeting Syria’s victory.
