Syria, Lebanon Discuss Transport Cooperation

 Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Transport Ali Hammoud discussed with the Lebanese Ambassador to Damascus Saad Zakhia ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries and the prospects for their development, especially in the field of railway and road transport.

 The Minister pointed out that Syria has an important geographical location, which makes it an air, land and sea crossing point, and Syria is connected to Lebanon with several border ports that reach Lebanon with Iraq and Jordan and serves the trade exchange and transit between the two countries.

  Mr. Hamoud pointed out that his ministry’s focus is now on projects that achieve a strategic dimension in the next work and serve the reconstruction stage and meet the market need. He pointed out that transport will have a large share in pushing and accelerating the pace of work, production and development as a real boost to the rest of the sectors.

 He stressed the desire of the Ministry of Transport to develop cooperation with the Lebanese side, pointing out the importance of activating the agreements signed between the two sides and studying their development, especially in the field of railways and roads.

 Mr. Zakhia also underlined the importance of activating cooperation, movement of goods and businessmen, exchanging visits and exhibitions between the two countries, especially in Syria with developed infrastructure in road, sea and air transport.
