Syria, Lebanon Discuss Economic and Industrial Cooperation

Damascus- Prime Minister, Eng. Imad Khamis discussed here on Wednesday with Lebanese Minister of Industry Hussein Haj Hassan ways to open new horizons for economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

Eng. Khamis talked about Syria’s economic improvement including the stability of the energy sector, the development of the industrial zones and the return of thousands of industrial plants to work,

which gave a strong impetus to the other industrial sectors existing to recycle the wheel of production, noting the facilities provided by the Syrian government in terms of legislation, loans and simplification of procedures.

For his part, Mr. Haj Hassan expressed Lebanon’s desire to take advantage of the investment momentum which began to clear in Syria with the start of the reconstruction phase, pointing out that the participation of Lebanese businessmen in the conference of businessmen and investors in Syria and the world will lead to positive results in terms of providing facilities for them and simplifying the procedures of establishing their projects and their entry into operation and production.

“The Investment Conference is a strong indicator of the economic recovery witnessed by Syria and its openness to cooperation with friendly countries,” Mr. Haj Hassan added.

The Minister of Industry, Mohammed Mazen Yusuf, discussed with his Lebanese counterpart ways to reactivate the work of the Joint Syrian-Lebanese Industrial Committee and achieve economic integration between the two countries and facilitate the flow of goods and products of national origin in both directions.
