“Syria is reborn’ exhibition documents devastation in terror-hit cities

Under the title ‘Syria is reborn’, a photography exhibition has been held in Damascus under the patronage of Culture Ministry and the ‘Shams’ Company of Media and Business.

The exhibition included 24 photographs depicting the return of life to several Syrian cities after driving terrorists out of them and the return of the residents to these cities to rebuild them.

The photographs made by the artist Ali Baddour show the devastation resulted from the terror acts took place in some cities in a surrealist vision based on the existence of ballet dancers performing expressive movements dance full of life and joy as symbol of the return of life to the cities.

Baddour told the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper that the idea of the photographs popped into his mind when Homs city’s residents returned to their homes after the Syrian army liberated the city from terrorists.

“The ballet dancer represents Syria that shook of the dust of destruction and stood up to live,” he said, indicating that he used the colours of the Syrian flag in the photographs exhibited in Abo Remmaneh cultural center.

The artist added that his exhibition addresses the Syria youth in particular so that they will not leave their homeland which will be stronger and more beautiful than ever.

“Photos play a key role in making the public opinion towards any issue,” Baddour concluded.

On her part, Editor-in-chief of the “Syria Daily news” website NourMelhim said that the exhibition aims to document terrorist acts in each area and to deliver a clear message to all Syrians, especially the youth, that Syria is beautiful and it will remain so despite the destruction resulted from terrorism.

“We, as young generation, can rebuild Syria which will be reborn,” she added.
