Syria: Israeli occupation bans on UNRWA work in occupied Palestine is a serious violation of international law

Damascus (ST)- Syria condemned the Israeli occupation’s ban on the work of UNRWA in the occupied Palestinian territories and depriving the Palestinian people of receiving humanitarian aid, stressing that this measure is a serious violation of international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today: “The Zionist occupation entity continues its blatant violation of UN resolutions and international law, by imposing a decision to ban the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian territories, which will deprive the Palestinian people of receiving the necessary humanitarian aid.

The Foreign Ministry continued: “The Syrian Arab Republic condemns this measure, which aims to undermine more Palestinian rights, especially the right of return, and to impose a policy of collective punishment against the Palestinian people, in conjunction with the continuation of war crimes, genocide and forced displacement crimes committed by this Zionist entity every day against the Palestinians in full view of the entire world.”

The Foreign Ministry added: “Syria stresses the illegitimacy of such decisions and calls for supporting the continued work of UNRWA for its important humanitarian role in providing assistance to the Palestinian people. It also warns of the disastrous consequences resulting from withholding humanitarian relief from the Palestinians in the occupied territories and using it as a tool of war against them, in another serious violation of their rights, international law and international humanitarian law.”
