Syria is elected as a member of the Executive Council of ACSAD

Riyadh, (ST) – Today in Riyadh, Syria was elected as a member of the Executive Council of the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD).

This came during the Centre’s General Assembly meetings held in Riyadh, with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Ayman Sousan, Syrian Ambassador to the Saudi Arabia, and the Ministers of Agriculture in the Arab countries.

In a statement to SANA, Ambassador Sousan affirmed that the election of Syria to the Executive Council of ACSAD constitutes a qualitative addition that will enhance the work of ACSAD, especially at the level of enhancing Arab integration to achieve food security, which has become a vital need in light of the current developments in the world.

Ambassador Sousan renewed Syria’s continued support for the work of the Centre, especially as the headquarters country, to help it carry out the tasks assigned to it.

At the meeting, Dr. Nasr al-Din Obaid was also re-elected as Director of ACSAD for a new term.
