Baghdad, (ST) – The Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, discussed with the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, means of developing joint cooperation in the field of security in general and border security in particular.
The Iraqi National Security consultancy said in a statement to SANA that “Al-Araji and Al-Dandah discussed the latest developments in the situation and joint cooperation in securing the borders between the two countries and the file of the Al-Howl refugee camp.” Al-Araji stressed Syria’s steadfastness in the face of all conspiracies.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Dandah affirmed the keenness of the two sides to tighten the security of the common borders, prevent the infiltration of terrorists through them, and exchange security information between the two countries on this issue.
Al-Dandah said in a statement that, “the meeting discussed the issue of the trench that was built along the Syrian-Iraqi border and its reinforcement with barbed wire and modern means of monitoring, including thermal cameras.”
The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Nasser Bandar Al-Shibli, also discussed with Ambassador Al-Dandah at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport the reality of joint cooperation and means ofdeveloping it for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.
Al-Shibli expressed Iraq’s keenness to build broad strategic relations with Syria commensurate with the depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly peoples.
In a statement to SANA reporter in Baghdad, Ambassador Al-Dandah said that, the meeting discussed means of overcoming the obstacles facing the transport of Syrian goods via the land , in addition to the issue of facilitating the passage of Syrian trucks through the “Arour port” to the Gulf countries, as well as providing facilities to the Syrian Arab Airlines in order to expand the tourism and trade cooperation.
Al-Dandah added that the meeting discussed the issue of rail linkage between the two countries and the development of the work of the Syrian-Iraqi Company for Land Transport.
