Syria, Iraq to enhance cooperation in the field of industry

Baghdad, (ST) – The Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, discussed with the Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, ways of enhancing joint industrial cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The Iraqi Ministry of Industry said in a statement, a copy of which was received by SANA’s correspondent in Baghdad that the minister Al-Najm stressed during the meeting the fraternal relations and close ties between Iraq and Syria, and the aspirations of both countries for closer cooperation and joint work at various levels and sectors.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed a number of industrial fields of interest to both countries, including the textile and food industries, with the aim of establishing complementary projects that serve the interests of the two peoples.

The two sides also discussed the work of the joint Iraqi-Syrian committee, whose meetings will be held in the middle of next month, and the opportunities available for cooperation in light of Iraq’s economic openness to achieve Growth and attracting Arab and international investments.

Al-Najm stressed the Iraqi government’s keenness to share with the Syrian side investment opportunities and projects offered in various industrial sectors. He expressed his ministry’s readiness to communicate and coordinate to enhance opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries.

In turn, Ambassador Al-Dandah affirmed in a statement to SANA’s correspondent, Syria’s desire to enhance cooperation and joint work with Iraq, and the aspiration towards establishing complementary projects and fruitful partnerships that serve the industry of both countries.

Al-Dandah pointed to the desire of both sides to expand cooperation in the field of fertilizers, the textile industry, and the food and pharmaceutical industries through investment participation.
