Syria, Iraq to enhance cooperation in the field of energy

Baghdad, (ST) -The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, and the Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah discussed means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the electric energy sector.

The media office of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity said, in a statement, in Baghdad that the talks focused on developing joint strategic plans to achieve improvements in the energy sector and ensure its sustainability in both countries.

The media office added that the two sides agreed to exchange experiences and implement joint projects to enhance electrical capacity and achieve self-sufficiency in energy, in order to consolidate stability and development in the region.

Ambassador Al-Dandah said in a statement to the correspondent: The meeting emphasized the depth of the distinguished fraternal and historical relations that bring together the two countries, Syria and Iraq.

“The meeting also emphasized the keenness to develop bilateral relations and raise them to the highest levels”, he added.

Ambassador Al-Dandah said that the discussions dealt with completing the electrical interconnection agreement between the two brotherly countries in the Al-Bukamal-Al-Qaim region.

The possibilities of exchanging expertise in the fields of energy through visits and preparing the required studies were also dealt with
