Syria, Iraq to develop trade exchange

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Industry ZiyadSabbagh discussed with an Iraqi technical delegation, from the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the results of the tours that the delegation made to a number of industrial companies in the public and private sectors that are working in the field of textiles and ready-made clothes.

 Minister Sabbagh stressed the importance of activating communication between the industry ministries in both countries and raising the level of cooperation in trade and investment to achieve common economic integration.

During the meeting, the delegation members affirmed their interest in exchanging the Syrian expertise in the field of wear and textile industries to their country. They also stressed their interest in developing the garment industry sector and activating bilateral industrial and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

The Iraqi delegation was briefed on the investment opportunities available at the Ministry of Industry, which include 38 destroyed facilities due to terrorists’ acts, with the participation of companies and individuals from the private sector and friendly countries to rebuild and rehabilitate these facilities.

The visit of the Iraqi delegation comes in implementation of the agreement concluded between the Syrian Ministry of Industry and the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals on the nineteenth of last July.
