Talks between the two sides focused on establishing an executive work program for scientific cooperation that copes with the strategic relations and the rapid developments scientifically and technically and meets the needs of Syria’s scholarships, establishes courses of scientific research for Syrian universities’ professors in Iranian universities and links production and scientific knowledge between educational institutions in Syria and Iran.

The two sides also agreed to redouble scholarships for students of master’s and doctorate in medical specializations and scientific precision of “45 to 90” scholarships annually, whereas the Iranian Ministry of Science and Research showed readiness to host the Syrian universities’ professors to conduct courses of scientific research and provide 200 scholarships to undergraduate students of the first year in the various disciplines.

“The Iranian Ministry of Science will spare no effort to support the higher education sector and the expansion of scientific and technical support for the Syrian universities because the terrorist war against Syria aimed at culture, science and educational institutions as one of the basic pillars of development in Syria,” Mr. Dana stressed.

Dr. Mahmoud pointed out that the “labor experienced by the region in the social, intellectual and political levels requires the construction of a scientific and knowledge partnership among institutions of higher education and scientific research in the two countries and to invest the great available potentials in Iran at the level of scientific and medical disciplines, scientific and knowledge production, especially in the fields of medicine, applied science and technology”.
