Syria, Iran to enhance parliamentary cooperation

Tehran, (ST) –  Dr. Haifa Juma’a, a member of the People’s Assembly, Vice-Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Friendship Committee in the parliament, and her accompanying delegation discussed with Abbas Kelro, Vice-President of the Iranian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Association in Tehran on Monday means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including the parliamentarian one.

During the talks, which were held at the headquarters of the Iranian Islamic Consultative (Al- Shura ) Assembly, Dr. Juma’a affirmed the existence of many areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially scientific, economic, energy and oil. She pointed out that the members of parliaments of the two countries seek to enhance strategic relations based on mutual respect in various fields.

She pointed to the importance of transferring Iranian scientific experiences and expertise to the Syrian side, investing them in the scientific and productive sectors, and linking them to research centers in universities, which will reflect positively on the productive reality based on science, knowledge and modern technology.

Dr. Juma’a and the accompanying delegation were briefed during their tour in the Iranian Innovation House exhibition on the latest scientific, knowledge and technological productions and scientific research in various agricultural, industrial, medical, therapeutic and productive fields. They were also briefed on the Iranian experiences and ways to benefit from them in the wheel of development, modernization and construction in Syria.

The Deputy Head of the Syrian-Iranian Friendship Committee also drew attention to the importance of cooperation and coordination in the media field between the two sides.

For his part, Kelro affirmed Iran’s full readiness to cooperate with the Syrian side in various fields, especially parliament. He added that we are working in the Shura Assembly to develop economic relations and activate and implement the agreements signed between the two sides.
