Tehran, (ST) – An expanded meeting was held this morning, headed by Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber and Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, at Saadabad Palace in the capital, Tehran.
The prospects for joint cooperation were reviewed and activated on the ground in a way that meets the needs and requirements of the current situation. The discussions included areas of cooperation in the energy sector, oil derivatives, transportation, tractors, tires, industry, enhancing trade exchange, transportation and tourism, and the necessity of activating the role of the business sector in the two countries.
Establishing investment and production partnerships to serve the interests of both countries and the two friendly peoples also were reviewed.
The two sides condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the war crimes it is committing against the people there, stressing the need to stop the aggression and hold Israeli officials accountable for the crimes it is committing against humanity.
Arnous, Head of the Syrian side in the Supreme Committee stressed the Syrian government’s keenness to develop bilateral relations in various fields, and the importance of putting all agreements and understandings signed between the two countries into actual implementation according to specific programs and timetables that directly reflect on the economies of the two countries and their citizens.
The Prime Minister added: Iranian companies have priority in participating in the reconstruction of Syria. He stressed that the relations between Syria and Iran are historical and rooted, and that the Syrian people will not forget Iran’s supportive positions.
Arnous thanked the Iranian leadership, government and people for standing by Syria in the face of the terrorist war and unilateral coercive economic measures.
For his part, Muhammad Mokhber, Head of the Iranian side in the Supreme Committee said: Syria has defeated terrorism and Iran continues to provide it with all support and we are determined to achieve a qualitative shift in economic relations and contribute to improving the economic reality there.
He pointed to the importance of developing and carrying out joint projects in various sectors and pushing bilateral relations forward.
The participating ministers from both sides, each in their respective fields, presented the stages of progress of relations between the two countries and the measures taken to overcome any difficulties that hinder bilateral cooperation.
