Tehran, (ST) – The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Iranian Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Vahidi means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of cities and municipalities and their management.
Minister Makhlouf stressed the importance of joint cooperation in the areas of exchanging experiences between administrative units and in the field of waste recycling, disaster management and firefighting, through a meeting of technicians and specialists.
Makhlouf referred to his meetings and discussions with Iranian officials in the field of environment and participation in the ministerial regional meeting (Environmental Cooperation for a Better Future). He said that, the meeting will pave the way for establishing regional cooperation among the countries of the region to confront climatic and environmental changes, especially sand storms and dustiness, which is one of the challenges that must be resolved collectively.
For his part, the Iranian Minister of Interior and Municipalities stressed the depth of the Syrian-Iranian relations, which are considered a model in relations between countries.
Vahidi pointed out that there are multiple aspects of bilateral cooperation in the field of municipalities and their management, crisis management and natural disasters. He expressed readiness to cooperate and exchange experiences in this regard.
In turn, the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Diop stressed the importance of joint projects between Syria and Iran. He indicated that there are very wide areas of cooperation between the governorates, cities and municipalities of the two countries in many areas of construction and services.
