Tehran,(ST) – The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Muhammad Issam Hazma discussed with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Dr. Muhammad Reza Friesin and the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad SamerAl-Khalil a number of aspects of financial and banking cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, they also discussed creating and strengthening banking relations between the two countries, which will be considered a service for future commercial movement between Syrian and Iranian merchants, and the steps taken regarding the joint bank to be established in Syria.
During the meeting, it was agreed to form a technical committee to follow up on all work between the Central Bank of Iran and the Central Bank of Syria, provided that it will be a permanent working committee that meets periodically to overcome all difficulties and obstacles that currently exist or that may appear .
The research also dealt with finding effective mechanisms for trade exchange in local currencies between the two countries.
The two sides stressed the need to accelerate the procedures for implementing the understandings according to specific timetables, increasing trade exchange, opening new horizons for cooperation between the banks of the two countries, and benefiting from common experiences in this field.
