DAMASCUS, (ST) – Water Resources Minister Dr. Kamal al -Sheikh and Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr. Bahram Nizam Mallaqi and members of the accompanying delegation discussed here ways to develop relations of cooperation and overcome the difficulties in the implementation of some projects.
The minister stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations of cooperation calling for Iranian companies to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria and the implementation of development projects and to take advantage of the experiences of Iran in the technical areas.
For his part, Dr. Mallaqi highlighted the bilateral ties that link the two countries and expressed the readiness of the Iranian Ministry of Energy to provide all the necessary expertise to carry out more new development projects in Syria through Iranian companies.
The two sides discussed the difficulties that hinder the progress of implementation of treatment plants for water sewage to the cities of Lattakia and Tartous and which are being implemented by the Iranian “Tehran Merab” company, with a value estimated at about 4 billion Syrian Pounds and a project for supplying installation of equipment to modernize the arenas distribution of Euphrates and al –Ba’ath Dams, implemented by the Iranian company, “Safa Nico”.
The two sides also agreed to hold joint meetings to develop appropriate solutions to overcome these difficulties and the preparation of technical programs and time and submit them to the custodianship to take the necessary decisions.
