Syria, Iran to develop economic and trade partnerships

Tehran, (ST) – Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, discussed with a number of Iranian officials in Tehran issues related to enhancing partnerships and cooperation in the field of energy, trade and economic affairs between Syria and Iran.

During a meeting with officials at the Iranian Ministry of Energy, Al-Khalil discussed the situation electricity and the possibilities of providing electricity to citizens and to the production process in Syria. He talked about the issue of cooperation to rehabilitate damaged or suspended stations, and invest them in a new contractual formula that benefits both countries.

Minister Al-Khalil also discussed with the Iranian Minister of Trade, Industry and Mine Abbas Aliabadi the measures taken in the field of securing the logistics of commercial and economic work such as banking, insurance, dealing in local currencies, transportation, customs, exhibitions, etc…

Al-Khalil also stressed the need to complete the procedures by signing a document for cooperation in the field of specifications and standards to overcome the obstacles related to cases of Non-conformity that may arise and affect the flow of goods between the markets of the two countries.

Al-Khalil presented some projects that can be implemented in a participatory manner. He stressed the need to work to further develop cooperation in the field of investment development by launching a set of priority projects for Syria in various sectors, which also fall within the scope and expertise of the Iranian side.
