Syria, Iran sign MoU on cultural cooperation

The Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation.

The memo was signed by the Syrian Minister of Culture Lubana Mushaweh and President of the Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations in Iran Muhammad Mahdi Imanipur.

Minister Mushaweh told journalists after signing the memo that the two sides will prepare a program to start implementing what the two ministries have agreed on.

She stressed the importance of signing this memo as it coincides with the Iranian Cultural Week which is due to be opened today at Khan As’ad Pasha in Damascus.

On his part, Imanipur said that the Iranian cultural week is an opportunity for both countries to enhance their relations, stressing that signing the memo will serve the interest of the peoples of Syria and Iran.

The MoU provides for exchanging cultural weeks and film festivals, producing and distributing films in both countries, exchanging musical concerts, theatrical shows, exhibitions and book fairs and holding specialized workshops on theater, plastic art, antiquities and museums.

The memo also provides for exchanging teachers and experts to qualify talents in the fields of cinema, music, fine arts and handicrafts.
