TEHRAN, Oct.9, (ST)- Yesterday, Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Shafiq Dayyoub discussed with Ayatollah Hassan Akhtari, the head of the Iranian-Syrian Friendship Committee, ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields for the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.
Dayyoub referred to the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and doubling the joint efforts by the public and private sectors in various fields to reach tangible practical results that meet the requirements of the current stage in which countries face unjust and illegal economic sanctions.
“After the enemies’ failure to achieve their goals on the ground, they resorted to imposing sanctions and launching an unprecedented economic war.To face this war we need to coordinate bilateral efforts to push for a qualitative leap in achieving joint projects, which aim at relieving pressure on the peoples of the two countries and strengthening the steadfastness of the axis of resistance in all areas to preserve the sovereignty, unity and independence of Syria and Iran, and protect the region from conspiracies being hatched against them,, the ambassador declared.
He referred to the importance of the Investment Law that was issued more than a year ago, which included administrative facilities and large financial and tax exemptions that allow to carry out investment projects in various fields.
The ambassador in addition talked about the key role of the Syrian- Iranian Friendship Committee and Iranian companies in promoting investment by creating joint companies that benefit both sides.
For his part, Akhtari highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation in various fields, stressing his country’s determination to make of new achievements that set a model for the rest of the projects, including the establishment of joint companies in the fields of oil, tourism, banking and banking facilities, customs duties, transportation and auto spare parts.
The two sides also asserted the importance of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and the role it can play in enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
They underscored the continuity of work to implement the discussed projects that meet the aspirations of the two countries in areas of common interest.
A number of investors and businessmen at the meeting presented their viewpoints on the projects that are under implementation in Syria besides several new joint projects for future cooperation.
