Syria, Iran Discuss Procedures of Simplifying Flowing of Goods in the Syrian Market

 Damascus, (St) – The Prime Minister, Dr. Wa’il al -Halaqi expressed satisfaction over the growing level of trade and economic relations between Syria and Iran and upgrading these relations to the level of strategic and historic political ones.

During a meeting with Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Syrian-Iranian Economic Relations, Rostum Khasemi, Dr. al Halaqi underlined the development of trade relations between the two countries due to the availability and genuine political will to overcome the obstacles in front of the process of bilateral cooperation, especially activating the Iranian credit line.

Dr al Halaqi affirmed the importance of expanding the prospects of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides and the participation of companies and businessmen in Iran in the reconstruction of Syria in cooperation with the Syrian national companies.

For his part, Khasemi stressed Iran’s support to the people of Syria asserting that “Iran is ready to provide all the requirements of the steadfastness of the Syrian people.”

During the meeting,  talks dealt with the mechanisms that help overcome and simplify the procedures of the flow of Iranian goods in the Syrian market, as well as cooperation in the fields of electric power, petroleum and activating the agreements signed between the two sides, signing of new agreements that contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange as well as cooperation in the field of health sector, water resources, transport and setting up joint ventures including grain silos and mills and the possibility of opening a new line of credit that provides supplies and enhances the living and the development of the Syrian people.

In a statement to reporters after the meeting, Khasemi said that the outcome of the meeting was good and contribute to the development of Syrian-Iranian relations, pointing out that the Iranian credit line was discussed, which aims to provide a lot of the needs to Syria.

“We believe that the position of the Syrian people has become better,” noting that it was reached today to new agreements regarding the provision of humanitarian assistance and the delivery of some of the needs of the Syrian people from medicines, foodstuffs, petroleum products,” Mr. Khasemi added.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Cabinet,  head of the Syrian side of the Follow-up Committee and the Development of the Syrian-Iranian Business, Taisir al – Zou’bi pointed to the excellent relations with the Iranian brothers and the need to hold periodical sessions to assess the march of economic relations between the two countries in order to keep pace with economic ties to march distinguished political relations under the directions of the leaderships of the two governments.

Mr. al –Zou’bi indicated that the Prime Minister requested to re-evaluate what has been implemented of agreements of the credit line for the supply of food, medical and electrical supplies to ensure all needs, pointing to the support of the Iranian government and continuous supply of foodstuffs to Syria in addition to the medical equipment and some Iranian drug items.
