Syria, Iran Discuss Boosting Academic Cooperation

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Amer al-Mardini and the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Riza Shibani on Sunday discussed ways of developing the executive program for academic cooperation between Syria and Iran. They talked about drawing up a joint scientific roadmap that copes with the strategic relations between the two countries and with the vast technical and scientific development.

 Mardini stressed the importance of boosting academic ties and of benefiting from the Iranian expertise, particularly in the medical field.

On his part, the Iranian ambassador urged enhancing future cooperation, noting to the strategic partnership between Syria and Iran both in fighting terrorism and takfiri thinking and in exchanging scientific expertise.

Talks also dealt with issues relating to the Syrian students due to be sent to Iran to study in the Iranian universities this year and with procedures to facilitate their travel. The two sides also discussed the situation of the Iranian students who got scholarships to study in Syrian universities.
