Syria , Indonesia sign agreement on mutual exemption of entry visas for holders of diplomatic passports
Syria and Indonesia signed an agreement that included mutual exemption from entry visas for holders of diplomatic passports, during the meeting held between Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi in New York.
The meeting reflected the confirmation of the governments of the two countries of their desire to strengthen and consolidate joint bilateral relations.
The two ministers also discussed the developments in the region, in light of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians, the recent escalation against Lebanon, and the repeated attacks on Syria.
On the other hand, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh reviewed with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti the various aspects of bilateral relations between Syria and Tunisia, and ways of strengthening them in various fields in a way that reflects the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples.
Also, Minister Sabbagh also held a round of talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill that covered various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The talks stressed the necessity of harnessing all available capabilities to confront common challenges, most notably the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States.
The two ministers stressed the need to strengthen existing work mechanisms in cooperation with friendly and like-minded countries to confront US hegemonic policies and its attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
In this regard, Minister Sabbagh condemned the United States’ attempts to interfere in Venezuela’s internal affairs, stressing Syria’s firm position in supporting Venezuela and its legitimate government
In turn, Venezuelan Foreign Minister praised Syria’s heroic steadfastness in confronting terrorism and in defending its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Minister Sabbagh also met with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, and discussed aspects of the existing relations between the two countries, and the issues on the agenda of the current session of the General Assembly.
The two ministers asserted the need to intensify coordination and cooperation between them on issues of common interest, foremost of which is unifying efforts in the face of similar challenges represented in confronting foreign interference in the internal affairs of countries, and the inhumane unilateral blockade and sanctions imposed by the United States on Cuba and Syria.
