Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmed al -Qadri met here Indian Ambassador in Damascus Man Mohan Banot. The Minister discussed relations of agricultural cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them, stressing the need for “exchanging experiences and activating bilateral agricultural agreements between Syria and India.”
During a meeting with the Indian Ambassador at the ministry’s headquarters, Mr.al -Qadri pointed to the importance of benefiting from the “outstanding success” achieved by India in the field of agricultural research and animal health, farm machinery and other agricultural aspects.
“The Syrian agricultural sector is able to achieve self-sufficiency and a surplus in agricultural production in the current circumstances,” referring to find foreign markets for the export of Syrian products including citrus, olives and vegetables” Mr. al -Qadri said.
For his part, the Indian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to provide all kinds of support in order to serve the interests of the Syrian people, due to the strong relations linking the Syrian and Indian peoples, stressing “the need to activate the previous agreements and the development of future action plans between the two countries.”
