Syria, India discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in various fields

DAMASCUS, JUL.6, (ST)- Today, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed with the Indian Ambassador to Damascus, Ershad Ahmed, the ways of enhancing cooperation and developing relations in the industrial, scientific, health, commercial, Information Technology, energy, building and human resources fields.

Arnous expressed the Syrian government’s determination to enhance cooperation and joint work with the Indian government, open broader horizons for it, create new cooperation opportunities, and complete joint projects in a way that reflects the depth of historical relations and achieves the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

He referred to the importance of increasing the number of scholarships offered by India, especially in the medical, engineering and information fields, and expressing appreciation for India’s  support to Syria and its standing by those affected by the earthquake and providing them with medical and relief assistance.

The Premier  called on the Indian side to contribute to the reconstruction and construction process in Syria, stressing the importance of encouraging the business sectors in the two countries to establish investment projects and partnerships, contributing to the development of economic relations, and enhancing trade exchange by exchanging goods that the markets of the two countries need.

He underscored the readiness to overcome Any obstacles that may hinder the development of relations at all levels.

Arnous in addition stressed the importance of the two sides taking appropriate measures in preparation for convening the joint governmental committee to discuss the ways of enhancing  cooperation.

For his part, the Indian ambassador referred to the well-established relations between Syria and India, stressing his country’s desire to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields, and reviewing the most important cooperation issues that were achieved during the previous period.
