Syria, IECD discuss cooperation in empowering Syrian youths

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mohammad Seifuddin and Director of the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) Alexis Beguin on Saturday discussed prospects of cooperation and ways to facilitate carrying out joint development projects in Syria.

IECD is a non-profit humanitarian organization established in 1988

The minister called for speeding up the accomplishment of joint projects that provide vocational training and help build the abilities of young Syrian people who want to enter the job market.

He pointed out that the organization’s work plan provides for launching 6 training centers in different Syrian provinces in cooperation with the ministry during the first quarter of next year. This work plan will consolidate the job market system.

 On his part, Nidal Bitar, the European Institute’s Representative in Syria, said that the organization is currently implementing two projects in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Labor. The first project has to do with qualifying the Syrian youths and fundjng their entrepreneurship projects through the training centers established in the Syrian countryside, he clarified.

 The second project, he added, is being carried out in Lattakia. It aims at building the abilities of around 1800 entrepreneurs.
