Syria highly appreciates Qatar’s initiative to begin supplying gas to Syria via Jordan

DAMASCUS, Mar.15, (ST)- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates highly appreciated Qatar’s initiative to begin supplying gas to Syria via Jordan, noting that this initiative represents a crucial step in meeting Syria’s urgent energy needs and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people.

In a statement issued via its Telegram channel today, the Ministry extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to all parties participating in this important program, including the Qatar Fund for Development, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the United Nations Development Program, in appreciation of their efforts and commitment to supporting the Syrian people.

The Ministry clarified that the program will provide 400 megawatts of electricity per day at the Deir Ali Power Plant in Syria, with plans to gradually increase production. This energy will be distributed to cities across the country, contributing to achieving stability and alleviating the burdens on citizens.

The Ministry stated that it looks forward to further fruitful cooperation with all partners to ensure that Syrians can regain their lives and live with dignity after more than a decade of war, massacres, and deprivation.

It also affirmed its commitment to rebuilding a strong and independent Syria through cooperation and mutual support.
