Syria highly appreciates Algeria’s honorable stances towards Syria: Sabbagh

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh said on Thursday that the Syrian-Algerian relations are deep-rooted, thanking Algeria for supporting Syria in its war on terrorism.

Sabbagh, who made the remarks during his meeting with Algeria’s Ambassador to Syria Lahsan Tuhami, stressed the need to enhance parliamentary ties between the two countries.

He clarified said that Syria has been targeted because of its rejection to compromise just Arab causes, mainly the Palestinian cause.

The Algerian diplomat said that relations between the two countries go back to Algeria’s pre-independence era during which Syria adopted an honorable stance to back the Algerian people in their struggle for liberation from occupation.

He added that he is confident that these relations will continue based on common national principles.

Tuhami hailed the steadfastness of the Syrian leadership, army and people in the face of the current war, asserting the need to boost parliamentary cooperation to serve the two countries’ common interests.
