The Syrian communities in France and Cuba have underscored in statements released on the occasion of Independence Day [also known as Evacuation Day] that their homeland has never accepted defeat throughout the history.
The Syrian expatriates in France said that the French colonial rule in Syria was ended in 1946 thanks to the sacrifices and national unity of the Syrian people. They indicated that the conspiracies that target Syria come within the old colonialist policies.
“The Syrian army’s incessant sacrifices to defend the homeland’s sovereignty and independence is a continuation of heroic acts of warriors such as al-Sheikh Saleh al-Ali, Ibrahim Hanano and Sultan Basha al-Atrash, who defended the homeland,” the expatriates added, stressing their support for the Syrian army and people.
The other statement released by the Syrian community in Cuba said that Syrian people are going ahead with defending the homeland’s sovereignty and independence and dignity.
“The Syrian people’s steadfastness is a legend and has foiled the conspiracy against the country,” the community said, expressing pride over the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and wise leadership in confronting terrorism .
