Syria, Guyana discuss enhancing bilateral ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Saturday held talks with George Hallaq, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Guyana and discussed with him means of enhancing bilateral ties between Syria and Guyana.

Hallaq is also a presidential aid and Minister for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The talks between the two sides affirmed the need to boost contacts bilaterally and at international forums.

“Syria is proud of its relations with Guyana and all countries of Latin America and the Caribbean which believe in the principles and goals of the UN Charter,” said Al-Mikdad

He noted the importance of Hallaq’s visit for discussing international developments of common interests and for consolidating Syria-Guyana ties in the cultural, economic and political domains.

On his part, Hallaq said he is pleased to visit Syria to convey the sincere wishes of the people and leadership of Guyana to the Syrian people and leadership in completing their victory over terrorism and reconstructing Syria.

He stressed Guyana’s support for Syria in the face of the terrorist war and unfair sanctions.

The two sides agreed on continuous consultation and coordination on different issues.
