Syria Friends Parliaments Affirm Only Syrians Have Right to Decide Their Own Future

TEHRAN, (ST)- Concluding their first meeting in Tehran, heads of the foreign policy committees of Syria’s friendly countries parliaments condemned the horrible crimes committed by the armed terrorist groups in Syria and urged all countries of the region and the world to act immediately to confront the international terrorism phenomenon.

In their communiqué, heads of the committees affirmed the need to attain a political solution to the crisis in Syria, to confront terrorism, to send humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people and to let the Syrians decide their hoped-for political future based on national dialogue.

They Parliamentarians asserted that the crisis in Syria has been continuous over the past three years because of the foreign intervention in the country’s internal affairs. 

Delegations from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Russia, Algeria, Venezuela and Cuba met Wednesday in Tehran to take part in first meeting of the heads of foreign policy committees of Syria’s friendly countries parliaments.

The meeting discussed means of halting human rights violations against the Syrian people, ways to provide assistance to crisis-affected citizens, in addition to the possibility of adopting a unified stance at the International Parliamentary Union meeting, due in Geneva between March 17th and 21st, to support the Syrian people in the confrontation of armed terrorist groups.
