Syria has stressed its confidence that Cuba will manage to overcome the impacts of Hurricane “Ian” that recently hit the country and caused destruction in several areas, renewing its call for lifting the American blockade imposed on the Cuban people to help them get out of this tragic situation.
An official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement on Saturday “Syria voices solidarity with the government and people of the friendly Republic of Cuba in the face of Hurricane “Ian” and its devastating impacts on the country’s infrastructure as well as public and private property.”
The source stressed Syria’s complete support for the efforts being exerted by the Cuban government to mitigate the effects of the destructive hurricane.
Syria extends its deepest condolences to families of the victims of the hurricane, wishing seedy recovery for the injured, the source added.
Cuba witnessed total electrical outage due to the hurricane which caused massive damage to power lines, houses and facilities. Some 40,000 people were evacuated from their houses in the province of Pinar del Rio.
It is to be noted that Cuba is progressing in recovering its electrical infrastructure, severely affected by the passage of hurricane Ian through the western part of the country.
