Syria, Egypt Are Leaders of Common Arab Action

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiya Abbas has stressed that “Syria and Egypt are leaders of common Arab action and their strong historical relations guarantee their national security and protect the future of the peoples of other Arab countries against colonialist and Zionist designs.

Abbas made the remarks during her meeting on Saturday with a delegation representing the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate led by the Syndicate’s Chairman Tariq Nabarawy. Talks focused on enhancing parliamentary relations between the two countries and deepening cooperation in confrontation of the terrorism targeting the entire region.

 “Strong Syrian-Egyptian ties act as a defensive wall in the face of extremism and takfirism backed by some well-known regional and Arab countries,” Abbas added, expressing her deep appreciation over Egypt’s rejection of any form of interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

On his part, Nabarawy said “mutual solidarity between Syria and Egypt forms the base for achieving Arab unity and solidarity against terrorism, noting the effective role that can be played by unionist organizations and commissions in reactivating joint action.

According to Nabarawy, systematic terrorism facing Egypt is the same sort of terrorism that has been targeting Syria for six years.

He affirmed the Egyptian Engineers’ Syndicate’s readiness to cooperate with Syria and provide all necessary assistance to support the steadfastness of the Syrian people.

In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Nabarawy said during its visit to Syria the delegation signed a cooperation protocol with the Syrian Engineers Syndicate . The agreement will have tangible results with regard to joint engineering work and supporting reconstruction projects in Syria.
