Syria, DPRK to Promote Agricultural Cooperation

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Agriculture Ahmed Qadri discussed yesterday with the Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Damascus Jang Myung ways of development and activation of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister pointed to the importance of strengthening and development of agricultural cooperation between the two countries and exchange of experiences, especially regarding the exchange of varieties of seed crops and vegetables.

For his part, the Korean Ambassador emphasized that the relations of cooperation between Syria and his country witness further development and progress in all fields and expressed the desire of the Korean side to develop the agricultural relations for the benefit of the two countries.

The two sides also agreed to exchange experiences and information related to agricultural research, seed production and exchange lists of locally produced crops to be selected by the Korean side and identify priorities.

The cooperation with the Korean side in the field of agriculture depends on the memorandum of understanding signed in the DPRK in 2009 in addition to the cooperation agreement and exchange of experiences in the field of agricultural scientific research signed between the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research and the Academy of Agricultural Sciences in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
