Syria, DPRK Sign MoUs, Executive Programs of Cooperation Agreements

PYONYANG- Syria and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday signed memorandums of understanding and executive programs of agreements on cooperation in the areas of education, industry, housing and investment.

The memos were signed at the conclusion of the meetings of the 10th Syrian-Korean joint economic committee held at the parliament house in the DPRK Capital Pyongyang.

 The memos were signed by Syria’s Finance Minister Maamoun Hamdan and the DPRK Minister of External Economic Relations Kim Yong Jae.

 In a statement to journalists, Hamdan said the ratified agreements are the result of the distinguished relations between the two countries and they serve the interests of the peoples of Syria and the DPRK.

Before the signing ceremony, a conclusive round of talks was held during which the Korean Minister Kim Yong Jae said the strong relations between Syria and the DPRK contribute to facilitating signing the agreements and speeding up their implementation.

The two sides agreed to hold meetings of the 11th Syrian-Korean joint economic committee in Damascus next year.

Meetings of the 10th  joint economic committee discussed over the past three days means of enhancing economic, scientific, technical and trade cooperation in addition to the draft memos and agreements planned to be signed.
