Syria, DPRK Sign Cooperation Agreements
DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Joint Syrian- Korean Economic Committee concluded its deliberations on Thursday and signed the minutes of the meeting of the ninth session, which included agreements and executive programs , including the domains of scientific and technical cooperation, specifications, standards and quality control as well as the media.
The minutes of the committee meeting , which was held at the Ministry of Culture in Damascus to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the industrial field between the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Commerce in the DPRK and an executive program for the application of the terms of an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of standards, specifications and quality control and certificates of conformity between the Syrian Association of Standards and Specifications and the State Committee of Quality Management in the DPRK.
The minutes also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the General Authority of Radio and Television and the Korean Central Broadcasting Commission and the protocol of the deliberations of the joint ninth committee between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Omar Ghalawanji and Ambassador of Democratic Republic of Korea (DRK) in Damascus, Zhang Seung recently discussed means of strengthening and expanding the prospects of joint cooperation between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of the meeting of the Joint Syrian- Korean Committee between the two sides in various fields, hoping participation of Korean companies and benefit from the experiences in the technical, scientific and economic areas of reconstruction in Syria, which will be at the hands of Syrians and with the help of friendly countries.
For his part, Korean Ambassador underlined the importance of mutual relations of cooperation between the two sides and the need to strengthen them in all areas by the Joint Syrian- Korean Committee, renewing his government and people’s stand with Syria.
Earlier, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Khider Orfali recently discussed with the Ambassador of Democratic Republic of Korea (DRK) in Damascus, Zhang Seung, topics related to the Joint Syrian- Korean Committee of Economic Cooperation in its 9th session in Damascus.
The two sides discussed means of upgrading the signed agreements and the removal of obstacles and difficulties as well as the possibility of activating mutual exhibitions such as holding a permanent exhibition of Syrian products in Pyongyang and cooperation in the field of free zones.
The minister pointed to the depth of the relationships that have grown over the decades between Syria and the Democratic Republic of Korea and the importance of developing those relations in various economic and investment aspects.
For his part, the Ambassador Seung considered that the growth of bilateral relations between Syria and the DRK comes as a result of the efforts of leaders of the two countries, expressing confidence that the Syrian people will achieve victory in his battle against terrorism.
