Syria has stressed that no negotiations of any kind were ever held with the Turkish regime, particularly on counter-terrorism, an official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Tuesday.
The source was commenting on the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s claims about direct negotiations between his country and Syria on security issues and on combating terrorism.
“The Syrian Arab Republic categorically denies the existence of any kind of communication or negotiations with the Turkish regime, particularly on fighting terrorism,” the source said.
The source added that “all have realized that the Turkish regime is the main supporter of terrorism and that it has made Turkey an incubator for extremism and terrorism, threatening peace and stability in the region and the entire world. It flagrantly violates international legitimacy resolutions on counter-terrorism.”
In an interview with a Turkish T.V., Cavusoglu claimed that his country has contacts with Syria on security issues and on fighting terrorism. He claimed that necessary negotiations are underway.
