DAMASCUS, (ST)-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has stressed the need to enhance cooperation between Syria and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) as to face common challenges represented by the unilateral brutal economic measures imposed by the western countries on Syria and DPRK.
Al-Mikdad made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with Deputy Foreign Minister of the DPRK Pak Myong Guk.
The meeting focused on the deep-rooted friendship between Damascus and Pyongyang and on the importance of boosting bilateral ties in the political, military and economic domains.
Al-Mikdad condemned US disregard of the commitments it had made to DPRK during the two sides’ recent talks.
On his part, Guk said that his visit to Syria came to stress the importance of the Syrian-Korean relations, reiterating that the DPRK always backs Syria and supports its stances in international forums.
He condemned the US Declaration on occupied Syrian Golan, stressing that Pyongyang considers Golan as a sacred Syrian land.
The Korean official hailed the achievements of the Syrian Arab army in the fight against terrorism and the Syrian people’s steadfastness in the face of foreign-backed terrorism, most recent of which is the economic war.
He affirmed his county’s willingness to take part in Syria’s process of reconstruction.
