Damascus, (ST) – Syria and the Czech Republic signed a joint cooperation agreement in the water field.
The Ministry of Water Resources stated that the agreement includes the implementation of a solar energy system to operate a drinking water purification plant in the Hazeh area in Damascus countryside.
The ministry also stated that the agreement includes the maintenance of some of the damaged sewage and drinking water networks in that area with the aim of securing drinking water for citizens.
The ministry indicated that the agreement signed with the Czech company Ecomonitor for Water Resources at the ministry building and in the presence of Dr. Tammam Raad, Minister of Water Resources, came as a continuation of a previous agreement that included a grant provided by the Czech side to implement a drinking water purification plant in the Hazeh area in Damascus countryside.
It was signed on behalf of the Syrian side by the Director General of the Damascus and Rural Water Establishment Issam Tabbaa, and on the Czech side, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Damascus “Eva Filippi” representing the company.
