HAVANA, (ST)-Syria and Cuba are keen on enhancing bilateral ties and on exchanging expertise in all fields, particularly in the health sector, Health Minister Nizar Yazigi has stressed.
During his meeting with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Marcelino Medina in Havana on Thursday, Yazigi said health cooperation between Syria and Cuba is boosting. He thanked Cuba for supporting the Syrian state and people in the face of the terrorist war imposed on the country.
Medina, on his part, renewed his country’s support for Syria and expressed satisfaction over the development of bilateral ties between Syria and Cuba over the past years.
He said signing the medical cooperation agreement between the two countries will contribute to consolidating relations in this filed, adding that his country is ready to supply Syria with advanced medical expertise.
He hailed the achievements being made by the Syrian army in the fight against terrorism, stressing his confidence that Syria’s complete victory is imminent.
Within the framework of his visit to Cuba, the health minister visited the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana where he was briefed on the health education system in Cuba. He also met the Syrian students studying in the school and inspected their situation.
