Syria Congratulates Iraqi people, Government on Major Victory Over “Daesh” in Al-Ramadi

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria is greatly proud of the victory achieved by the Iraqi army and popular forces in al-Ramadi province represented in liberating al-Ramadi from the terrorist gangs of “Daesh”, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Wednesday.

“The Syrian government congratulates the Iraqi people and government on this great achievement which regained an important part of Iraq to the authority of the Iraqi state and people,” the source said.

It stressed that the victories of the Iraqi people are victories to Syrian people as both countries are in the same trench to eliminate terrorism represented by “Daesh” and other terrorist organizations.

“The war waged by the Syrian and Iraqi armies on [Daesh] and the other terrorist organizations necessitates that neighboring countries, particularly Turkey and Saudi Arabia, should be committed to fighting terrorism, stopping financing, arming and sheltering terrorist organizations and completely complying with Security Council resolutions relating to counterterrorism, including resolution No. 2253,” according to the source.

“Syria hopes that next year will witness the defeat of [Daesh] and terrorism in Syria and Iraq and will have security and stability restored to the region and the entire world, the source said.
